Daycare Contracts...

Are you looking for information on daycare contracts?

Any business that provides a service to the community needs a series of contracts. These contracts serve several purposes. They eliminate any mystery regarding what your business offers. These contracts also spell out the rights of both the business and its customers. Further, contracts are useful for detailing policies that you and your staff will follow should certain circumstances arise.

With the proper daycare contracts in place, your business can run smoothly even when problems present themselves. This article will describe a few key elements that should be included in your day care business contracts.

Meals

You should include the types of meals you will serve the children during the time they are in your care. It is not necessary to list each item. However, list the number of meals and snacks you serve, the typical times you serve them and even quantities or portions of each meal. If you offer a menu from which the children can choose items, put that into the contract as well.

If you participate in the Child and Adult Care Food Program, detail that in the contract.

Safety, Food, and More...

Sick Policy

Include a section that describes your day care center's illness policy. Detail the actions that you and your staff will take when a child becomes seriously ill or presents symptoms that require medical attention. Also, list who is to be called in what order.

Safety

Parents want to know their children will be safe when in your care. Detail in your daycare contracts what you and your staff do to maintain a safe environment. Mention locked cabinets, fire extinguishers, safety gates and smoke detectors. Include everything that your business uses or does to ensure the safefy of the children. Also include policies regarding where and when children can play. For example, if you do not allow children outside a certain perimeter in the front of your building, mention that.

Supplies

Children of different ages have different needs. Include a list of supplies that you will have in stock at all times. These include diapers, Tylenol, changes of clothes for what ages and sizes, etc.

Discipine

You will have certain rules regarding what the children can do and what they are expected not to do when in your care. For example, include in your contract that no child will be allowed to run inside. Also include any disciplinary actions that you will take should a child refuse to cooperate.

Running a day care center is an exciting business. However, you need to create detailed contracts that clearly describe what you, your staff and your business are responsible for and what each child's parents are responsible for. By including as many details as possible in your contracts, you can promote full communications between you and your customers while limiting any liability your business could encounter.
