Daycare Regulations...Starting a daycare center can be a very confusing and frustrating time. There are many different areas that you need to be aware of, one being what the regulations are. Regulations are very strict no matter which state you live in, however they are state regulated and each state has different regulations that a daycare center must follow in order to stay open. Before you even open your doors, it is important to check with your states licensing board to find out what the regulations are. You will be sent a package containing all of the information that you will need to do before your state inspection. It is important that you understand that regulations for home daycare are much more strict then with an offsite facility. No matter what type of facility that you open, state regulations will insist that the facility be safe for the children. It is their health welfare and safety that is taken into consideration above all else. Children’s Safety...Because it is the children’s safety that is at stake, one regulation that almost every state in the country is a background check on every employee, criminal and in some states, driving records are required. Most daycares provide a yard for their children, and virtually all states regulate that the yard must be fenced in. Also, the playground equipment must meet state requirements or the license will not be approved. It is important that you understand that daycare centers are not being targeted by licensing agencies; when it comes to the safety of children, they will not bend the rules and if they are not followed to the letter, then the daycare center will be fined and possibly shut down. Children are vulnerable to many different dangers in the world today, some more dangerous than others, attending a daycare center should not be one of them, and this is why the regulations for daycare centers are so rigid. |
