Day Care Rates...Today, with the ever-growing economy, many people wonder why it is that daycare rates continue to increase to a point where the cost of daycare is almost as much as one paycheck. Daycare centers are a business, and as a business they want to make a profit. This is difficult to achieve when you take into consideration that cost of running a daycare is very expensive, you may understand why the rates are so high. First of all, every daycare center needs to be insured. This type of insurance coverage is very expensive and even the cheapest policy can cost thousands of dollars per month. If you have a home daycare, the insurance can be figured into your homeowner’s insurance policy. The Staff... Then there is the staff. No one will work for nothing, and having enough people to cover each room is going to require two sometimes three people per room. The staff needs to be paid either weekly or biweekly.When you own a daycare, you will find that toys and equipment will need to be replaced often. This can be an exorbitant expense. Most daycare centers provide breakfast lunch and snacks. The grocery bill every week will rival one of a five star restaurant, and this expense is incredible, especially when different menus need to be prepared for children who either by religion or allergy cannot eat specific types of food. When you take into account that they also need to provide furniture, beds, cribs playpens, and all the linen that goes with them as well as diapers and toiletries, and a change of clothes in case of accidents, then you may be able to see a little more clearly that the expense of running a daycare center is exorbitant and that the rates that are charged are needed in order to stay open. |
